Getting into university is getting more and more competitive, with growing applicant pools made up of students with top SAT/ACT scores and GPAs.
The X Factor is the extra “something” that comes from reflecting excellence somewhere across four categories: Creativity, leadership, maturity, and intelligence. These four traits not only help in the college application process, but for life.
What does the X Factor look like in action?
Although excellence in creativity, leadership, maturity, and intelligence may seem innate, they can actually be honed and developed over the years. Starting late is better than never.
These are a few examples of what students here at Tokyo Academics have done to show they have the X Factor.
What can you do to get started today?
Again, these traits aren't innate: they're learned and developed over hundreds if not thousands of hours of incremental practice and improvement. The important thing is to start as soon as you can.
Creativity: Force yourself out of your “normal” habits and ways of thought
Lastly, you don't need to spread yourself thin. If anything, do one thing, and do it well: world-class well. Try plenty of things, but don't let a busy schedule keep you from taking your real passion as far as you can take it!
